DETAILS
The tournament will be a 16-player Gold bracket with a community funded prize pool via Matcherino.
Prize payout determined based on thresholds reached.
A Silver bracket may be accommodated based on player registration.
Qualifying format will follow the “Qualifying Points” system used at the world championship and works as follows:
– In this format, players with scores over a million points WILL count.
– Players will play on a modified version of classic Tetris that allows the player to exceed the “maxout” score of 999,999 and “uncap” the score so that it is calculated in a 7-digit format.
– Players earn “qualifying points” for reaching the 1 million score threshold and continue to receive “qualifying points” for every 100k earned in score.
– Players will have 1 hour to achieve their qualifying score to enter the tournament
The qualifying point system works as follows:
0-999,998 – 0 QP (your high score will be considered your “qualifying score” and recorded the same as in previous years)
999,999-1,099,999 – 2 Qualifying Points
1,100,000-1,199,999 – 1 additional QP = 3
1,200,000-1,299,999 – 1 additional QP = 4
1,300,000-1,399,999 – 1 additional QP = 5
1,400,000-1,499,999 – 1 additional QP = 6
1,500,000-1,599,999 – 1 additional QP = 7
1,600,000-1,699,999 – 1 additional QP = 8
1,700,000-1,799,999 – 1 additional QP = 9
1,800,000-1,899,999 – 1 additional QP = 10
1,900,000-1,999,999 – 1 additional QP = 11
2,000,000-2,099,999 – 2 additional QP = 13
Etc
Seeding will be determined by the qualifying points accrued during the qualifier, with ties broken by comparing the highest score. For instance, if Joe and Bob have 3 “qualifying points” each, and Joe’s highest score is 956k, and Bob’s is 922k, Joe will earn the higher seed.
– Matches for the Gold tournament will be Best-of-3 for Round 1 & 2
– If time permits, the semifinals will be Best-of-5, otherwise will default to Best-of-3
– Finals will be Best-of-5
– If a Silver tournament is run, matches will be Best-of-3 until the Finals

This year’s regional will not feature qualifying rounds. Every player who enters will be placed into a double-elimination bracket. DrMC veteran players will be seeded to ensure fair matchups while new players will be randomly placed elsewhere into the bracket.
In early rounds, the game will be set to Level 11/MED Speed.
Matches in the top/winner’s bracket will be a best-of-five set of games (crowns), while matches in the lower/loser’s bracket will be a sudden death single game (crown) match. Once the double elimination bracket is reduced to 8 players, all matches will be played at Level 14/HI Speed.
The winner of the DrMC Connecticut Regional will get free admission to the 2026 DrMC Grand Championship, a chance to compete for the DrMC Grand Championship top seed, a cash prize, and a trophy!
